The Story of Near Echigo-Yuzawa Station
Yuzawa is the only town in the world that can boast two bullet train stations and it is one of the most easily accessible winter sports areas from Tokyo. 70 minutes by bullet train from Tokyo station and only 160km away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis, Yuzawa is nestled in the Japan Alps, and offers clean air and beautiful mountainous surroundings.
Yuzawa was the inspiration for the novel "Snow Country" by Yasunari Kawabata and indeed is well known as a ski and snowboard paradise, boasting 12 ski fields in and around the town. Yuzawa was relatively unexplored until the opening of the Echigo Yuzawa bullet train station but since then has grown into a popular resort town. There are a wide range of accommodation options covering all levels so there is sure to be something for every taste and budget. The abundance of hot springs also draw many visitors as does the Fuji Rock music festival, one of the biggest in the whole of Japan.

-Take Joetsu Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo Station to Echigo-Yuzawa. The price is 5,980JPY each way.
-By bus, take an express bus from West Exit of Ikebukuro station in Tokyo. The express buses arrive at Yuzawa IC so if you take an express bus then we need to request a pick up service from your hotel, so please let us know. The price is 3,000JPY each way.
